We
would like to take this opportunity to invite you to become a
member of the Water Mill Community Club, or to ask you to renew
your membership for 2008. Our Club offers a
real sense of small town community spirit, a way to meet and
socialize with others, and activities for children and adults.
We are proud that our members have created the most complete
privately held, publicly used recreational facility in the Town
of Southampton, and we invite you to join us.
The
enclosed membership form
includes a list of our numerous annual events for the upcoming
year.
In 2007 we initiated a few very successful changes.
The first annual Tennis Tournament was held in July as a
mixed-doubles format with three age categories.
It was a great way to put our tennis courts to good use, and
everyone had a wonderful time. The other new
activity, the Youth Pizza Party game night is coming up in
October, and we hope it is as successful as the Adult game
night. The Taste of Water Mill, in its second year, was again a
rousing success. We have designed our calendar so that there are
activities for adults and for parents with children of all ages.
Hopefully you will see several that you will try to
attend, and choose a few you will volunteer to help with.
Please keep in mind that volunteers are considered working
members and are able to rent out buildings or facilities at
reduced rates.
The Water Mill Community Club owns and maintains
four buildings:
the Historic Community House, the Tennis House, the Burnett
Field House, and the Carpenter Building. Each of these
buildings is unique and different in size.
They are used or rented for a wide variety of events, such as a
pre-school play group, a summer baseball camp, community events,
meetings, class reunions, family reunions and parties.
We also maintain three tennis courts, a
playground, and athletic fields that are used for softball,
baseball and soccer.
Our web site at
www.watermillcommunityclub.org
has been updated and contains all of the
important information regarding our Club.
Two types of
Scholarships are available
through our newly formed entity, the WMCC Educational Trust
Unit. High School
Seniors who apply are required to demonstrate academic ability
combined with service to the community-the cornerstone upon
which our Club was built and continues to exist.
The second is the Calder-Water Mill Scholarship that is
available to all Water Mill residents seeking post-secondary
education or vocational training.
Please act now and return the membership application for
2007 with your annual dues of $45. We appreciate quick
responses as they help us get the Calendar of Events quickly.
Thank you,
Eileen Noonan,
President
