This weekend, April 22 – 23, is the “GREAT EAST END CLEAN-UP”. Please help by choosing a public area – your road, the beach, the highway, wherever you choose.
If anyone needs a Disposal Center Pass for the dump, please contact Eileen Noonan as soon as possible.
The following are the 2017 Volunteer Instructions have been taken from the Town’s website.
- The Great East End Clean-Up will take place on Saturday, April 22nd and Sunday, April 23rd, Rain or Shine. The Recycling Centers in North Sea, Hampton Bays, and Westhampton will be accessible to Great East End Clean-Up volunteers who present a Disposal Center Pass. • The Disposal Center Pass may be used repeatedly throughout the weekend, but the pass is valid only on Saturday, April 22nd and Sunday, April 23rd, during regular business hours at the recycling centers, 8 AM to 4 PM. We suggest getting to the centers before 3:30 PM.
- The Great East End Clean-Up is intended for the clean-up and proper disposal of illegally dumped rubbish, litter, and garbage. It is not for the free disposal of household items or other materials self-haulers wish to dump without paying a disposal center fee. Attempts by volunteers to avoid a fee for disposal of personal items may result in the revocation of the dumping privileges during the Great East End Clean-Up.
- Prohibited Items: As much as the Town would like to accept materials found illegally dumped, our resources for this program do not allow us to do so. Therefore, the following items will not be accepted: boats, jet skis, car parts, tree trunks, tree stumps, land clearing debris, etc.
- We’re asking that participants please keep all plastic grocery bags collected during the clean-up in a separate garbage bag for recycling.
